The Ukrainian Culture Festival will be held in Prague next week

Prague, Czech Republic – A fundraising festival dedicated to Ukrainian culture and cuisine will be held in Prague next week.

Set in the Pražská tržnice market square in Prague’s 7th district, the one-day festival will take place on Thursday, May 5 from 4-9 p.m. and is open to all visitors.

All proceeds from the event will go to war-torn Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees, organizers said.

The program will include concerts by Ukrainian musicians and bands, performances by local artists, as well as food stands presenting the must-haves and lesser-known dishes of Ukrainian gastronomy to Czech gourmets.

More details are to be announced in the coming days.

In addition to direct military and humanitarian aid from the government, the Czechs have collected and donated billions of crowns to support Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion, including for the acquisition of military equipment and to help refugees. Ukrainians fleeing the war.

Even before the war, which saw more than 300,000 people seek refuge in the Czech Republic in just over two months, Ukrainians were the largest foreign-born community in the country.

“Thousands of fellow Ukrainians have been living with us in the Czech Republic for a long time,” the organizers of the event write. “But we don’t know much about their culture, their food, their songs, their dances. We want to change that.”
