In November, Prague City Hall accepted a proposal to offer discounts to tenants of city-owned non-residential premises due to the ongoing pandemic.
Entrepreneurs can apply for reductions by the end of the year. Depending on the type of business and the terms of the contract, discounts range from 30% to 70% of the rent.
In the last months of 2021, the majority of European countries, including the Czech Republic, have seen a wave of new cases of Covid-19.
In response to the new wave of Covid-19 infections, Prague City Hall has launched the third round of rental discounts for entrepreneurs who could again face serious economic consequences.
The city, as the owner of the real estate, wants to support local entrepreneurs so that they can maintain their establishments and continue their business activities in the Czech capital.
Rental discounts can be claimed for the period from January 1 to November 30, 2021, in some cases up to 70% of the rent.
Tenants are required to submit a request for rent reduction by 31.12.2021 at the latest. To be eligible, they must meet certain criteria specified in an annex to the application. A discount will be granted as public aid under the de minimis rule provided for in Commission Regulation (EC) No 1407/2013.
After completing the application in the electronic system, the system generates a unique number and a PDF version of the application.
To verify the application, the applicant is required to send the generated PDF to Prague City Hall within 5 working days.
Due to the current situation, electronic submission via data box or email with verified signature is preferred.
