CEE Cup football tournament returns to Prague
The CEE Cup football tournament is back. Sparta will face two Latin American teams, while Slavia will be paired with Aston Villa and Dynamo Kyiv
The best international U19 football tournament, which in the past has seen players like Tomáš Soueek, Adam Hložek, or Alex Král compete there, is finally back in Prague after a three-year “Covid” break.
The EEC Cup will start on July 22n/a with the group stage and end on July 26e with the Final. Today, the LOS determined the program of the two groups composed of three teams each.
Group A will see last edition’s runners-up AC Sparta Praha take on Mexico’s newcomers CD Tigres in the opener, then they will face defending champions Brazil Palmeiras. In group B, SK Slavia Praha will also cross paths with a newcomer to the CEE Cup, the Englishman from Aston Villa, but also with the Ukrainian, Dynamo Kyiv.
“We are delighted that the best football teams from around the world are once again traveling to Prague to face the best local clubs in the city. Also, we hope the Kyiv boys can have a few fun days to help them forget about the war that unfortunately still rages in their country,” said tournament director Roberto de Blasio.
The six group stage matches will all be played at AC Sparta’s training ground in Strahov, with two matches per day from 3-5.30pm.
The classification matches will be played after the rest day, as will the final – Tuesday July 26ein Vrsovice Doliveeek, according to tradition, where they always welcomed us, providing a wonderful atmosphere. Foreign teams will train at Slavia’s training ground in Xaverov, Horní Poeernice, which means that the top two clubs in the Prague league will contribute to the quality and success of the event.
The organizers have made available three types of tickets for the tournament: a full access pass, which allows you to attend all matches; a day ticket, which allows you to see the two group stage matches of the day; and finally a ticket for the Final.
“The proceeds from ticket sales will help buy an electric generator for the hospital in Kharkiv, Ukraine,” adds De Blasio.
